Δεν αισθάνομαι και πολύ ωραία που το τελευταίο διάστημα, ανεβαίνουν όλιγον τι "στεγνά" τα δισκάκια στο blog, χωρίς δηλαδή μία δική μου αναφορά ή έστω την "τυπική μου έγγραφη" παρουσία. Δυστυχώς όμως εκτός του ότι δεν είμαι και στα φόρτε μου, υπάρχει και ένα χρονικό στένεμα το οποίο με κάνει να μην μπορώ να αντεπεξέλθω στις απαιτήσεις της σελίδας.
Anyway... Ευελπιστώ να επανορθώσω σύντομα.
Πάντως πραγματικά ευχαριστώ όλους όσους αφήνουν comment ή στέλουν μηνύματα.

Όσον αφορά στο σημερινό ποστ, πρόκειται για ένα jazz standard δισκάκι του "γερακιού" της jazz από το 1960. Με τον Hawkins το κόλλημα μου είναι μέγα. Θεωρώ (και φυσικά δεν είναι δική μου μόνο θεώρηση...) ότι το "γεράκι" είναι απ' τους σημαντικότερους σαξοφωνιστες της τζαζ και όσον αφορά στο τενόρο σαξόφωνο ο σημαντικότερος. Ερμηνευτικά/ηχητικά όμως ο Hawkins κατέχει στα αυτιά μου μια πολύ περίοπτη θέση. Κάτι τέτοιο ισχυεί και σ' αυτόν εδώ το δίσκο. Ενώ οι συνθέσεις παραείναι στάνταρντ και κλάσικ, η ερμηνεία του Hawkins σε κάνει να εκτιμάς μελωδίες και συνθέσεις που μπορεί να είχες ξανακούσει σε άλλες εκτελέσεις, αλλά δεν σου άφησαν κάποια ιδιαίτερη εντύπωση.
Φυσικά καθοριστικό ρόλο για το αποτέλεσμα του δίσκου παίζουν οι μουσικοί που πλαισιώνουν τον Coleman Hawkins (Wendell Marshall μπάσο και Osie Johnson τύμπανα) με σημαντικότερη όμως (κατά τη γνώμη) τη μουσική συμβολή του εξαιρετικού πάντα Tommy Flanagan στο πιάνο.
Και για να εμμείνω στο κόλλημα μου με το Hawkins, απομονώνω κάτι απ' τις σημειώσεις του δίσκου που ανήκουν στον Ron Eyre. "Ξεφυλλίζοντας τις σελίδεςτης ιστορίαςσυναντάμε πάνταέναάτομο, που δίνει το στίγμα σε ένα συγκεκριμένο τομέα, έναν ηγέτη, έναν αδιαμφισβήτητο πρωτοπόρο.Στην τέχνηυπήρξεο Michellangelo, ο DaVinciκαιο Rembrandt. Στην λογοτεχνία ο Shakespeare, ο Dickens, o Mark Twain. Στον αθλητισμό ο Babe Ruth, o Joe Louis, o Jessie Owens. Στον κόσμο της τζαζ αντίστοιχα πρέπει να περιλαμβάνεται το όνομα του Coleman Hawkins".
